Ume Ali is a Creative Writing MFA student at San Jose State University. Her writing primarily deals with issues of patriarchy in Indian/Pakistani immigrant families, assimilation and third culture backgrounds, and social/emotional displacement. Ume has been an editor and marketing lead at Reed Magazine. She has served as contributing editor for Azizah Magazine, published a travel essay in Three: An Anthology of Flash Nonfiction, and most recently began work on her debut novel. Mother of three by day, when Ume isn't busy saving the world, she writes fiction and poetry.
