Lynn Stegner’s books include the collection For All the Obvious Reasons; novels Undertow, and Fata Morgana, both nominated for the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize; Because a Fire Was in My Head, a Faulkner Award for Best Novel and a New York Times Editors’ Choice; and Pipers at the Gates of Dawn, winner of the Faulkner Society’s Gold Medal. A recipient of both a Fulbright and an NEA, Stegner speaks and writes frequently on the subject of environmental preservation, and collaborates with conservationists around the world. A long-time instructor with Continuing Studies, Stegner divides her time between California and Vermont.
