I review poetry for the Rumpus and am the author of two collections of poetry, THE GENEROSITY OF STARS from Finishing Line Press and CURRENTS from THREE MILE HARBOR PRESS. I organized one of the first Indie Press Festivals in the country, in 1979, in Washington, D.C. My prose and poetry have appeared in local and national newspapers and literary journals.

I am looking for a publisher for THE LAST UMBRELLA IN VENICE, a book for children about an African artist who earns his living in Venice selling umbrellas , some of which have magical properties.

I am working on a new series of SENTENCES that combine personal memory with political content. For example, THE SEYMOUR SENTENCES, about a doctor my father knew and I met once, who performed safe affordable abortions before Roe v. Wade . Another SENTENCE piece is about the time my Chinese -American husband, who was born in California and always had an American passport, was mistaken for an immigrant at a Dallas airport when we were clearing customs in 1991.
